Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Hi I am researching William Barrington D'Almeida, a barrister and who is the great grandfather of a friend, I am helping her research the family. Although her grandfather was born in a relationship after Ann's death it would be interesting to see what inscription her husband William put on her gravestone. I have a small collection of d'Almeida works and intend to leave this data to the Australian Archives. The photograph of d'Almeida's grave will be an addition of interest to my collection and will be accessed by Australian scholars in future. No commercial use will be made of this photogaph. I will be happy to acknowledge receipt of the photo, and if in future you have any queries relating to this author, I will very happily collaborate with you. My work in this respect is most definitely a labor of love, as yours appears to be. We are a declining species (scholars who do all this for purely the pleasure of it) and if it were not up to us to continue this work, where would all this information end up? At the rubbish tip, most probably. I have not only one but two editions of d'Almeida's 'Life In Java' (originals) both of which I acquired at country auctions at very little cost. I want these books to go to good sources where they will be used. If time and good health allows (I am now 65 and not in the best condition)I want to retrace some of d'Almeida's places visited in Java, although a few visits to East Java have shown me that all has greatly changed. This said, one of the d'Almeida book set will go to a worthy Indonesian university in due course. Unfortunately, so little respect is nowadays given to Indonesian colonial history that I fear the gift would be not only little respected but most likely sold off immediately to overseas buyers for personal gain. Forgive me please for rambling on. I am a mid 20th century romantic with a classical humanities education, and as such an unappreciated leftover in this black and whitre era we now live in. If I may be of any help to you in anything to do with your research in Australia and New Zealand, you must contact me and we will take it from there.
