Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Although this monument appears to say 'George' it is actually 'John' husband of Sarah. If you look closely at the stone (I believe it is no longer there) the engraved 'George' has been filled in and the name 'John' has been engraved over it. The filler did not darken with age so 'George' stands out but if you look and feel carefully you can discern the name 'John' engraved over it. This matches the church burial entries. John and Sarah Andrews were my 4 x gt grandparents. As the stone is no longer there I think that it is important to note this whenever possible. Thank you.

This is my 4 x gt grandfather JOHN Andrews. The stone was engraved George in error and filled in with a substance that did not age the same colour as the rest of the stone. I have seen this stone several times and the name John was engraved over the filler and can be felt with the fingers.
