Big thank you. Jim Middlemas 9 Para Independant Squadron this is a message I got from someone who new him Hello, I served with Jim in the above unit, which was part of 16 Independent Parachute Brigade. Jim is seated in the front rank 6 from the right. The photograph was taken at Haig Lines, Crookham Crossroads, near Aldershot. Jim unfortunately is no longer with us as he passed away. Hope this is of some help to you. Regards Unfortunately he does not know where he is buried he was a MT sergeant at Aldershot 1962 I was born 1963. Another person told me.... Hello Gaye. Yes I knew Jim Middlemas very well. We were always good friends whilst serving in the squadron and I also met up with him after we both had left the army. I saw him on three different occasions in Hong Kong where he was looking after all the machinery being used on a huge road project. I have a few photographs of him but it will take time for me to send them to you. I have just changed my computer and I am struggling to find my way around it. I can tell you he was very much a ladies man and never short of lady friends. Jim was awarded the British Empire Medal for his tremendous work keeping a fleet of very old trucks on the road whilst the Squadron were employed on a project in Canada His father was also in the 1st Parachute Squadron RE and served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and at Arnhem. I have a photograph of him whilst he was in N. Africa. If you are Jim’s daughter then that would make him your grandad. Jim died of a heart attack and as far as I know he was buried close to his father in Scotland.
