Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

Robert and Catherine Hutton were my great great granparents. I knew that Robert Hutton was buried in St Hilda's but as I live in Western Australia I have not had the opportunity to visit and see the gravestone for myself. I really appreciate that someone has taken the time to photograph these gravestones. Thank you so much.

This appears to be the gravestone of a cousin of my 2x great grandfather William Hutton. This is her entry on my website. (link removed after your message popped up) I would be happy to submit transcriptions of the gravestones I have collected over the years if that would be of any use to you. Some from Sheffield and some from Barnsley.Thank you, LindaHutton linda@yourpint.com

Notes about St Hilda the Headland Church burial ground

A prominent feature of the Headland, St Hilda's church was built in the late twelfth century but the south doorway shows in its decoration that it belonged to an earlier Norman church.
