Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

From interest in locating personae/locations mentioned within the Conan Doyle novel.
(requested on 23 10 2015)
I am interested in the Conan Doyle connection. Henry used to work in Ipplepen as coachman to a friend of Arthur Conan Doyle at a time when Conan Doyle was seeking local colour and names for his book The Hound of the Baskervilles. When his employer died Henry came to work for an auctioneer in Ashburton, just over the road from this cemetery. The Baskerville family grave is in Ipplepen churchyard.

My Great grandfather Eli Baskerville was a distant cousin to Henry. This is part of my family research. Also interested in the Conan Doyle connection.

The second name on this gravestone is Henry Baskerville. When Henry was a young man he was coachman to Arthur Fletcher Robinson of Ipplepen, near Ashburton. Robinson was a close friend of Arthur Conan Doyle. In 1901 Henry drove the pair around Dartmoor seeking locations for a new book about a murderous hound. So guess where Conan Doyle got the inspiration for his new title, The Hound of the Baskervilles. My interest is the local history of a nearby village.
