Reasons why the image for this memorial was requested

John Stevenson is my Great-Great Grandfather, on my mother's side. I have an original copy of an invitation to his funeral and funeral procession in 1876 sent by his sons William and James (if I have the correct John Stevenson, which I believe I do) to my Great-Grandfather George Stevenson, who lived in Richmond, VA after emigrating from Scotland in the 1840's. Thank you for your assistance any for any help you can give. I certainly appreciate it, as it has been difficult to track this part of the family down, since there are so many John, James, and William Stevensons in this area of Scotland. A first cousin traveled to Scotland in 2010, found the cemetery, but could not locate the burial site, even though she had the information from the invitation I have. The staff could not locate the site for her. I certainly hope this is the correct one and I can share your find next year with my 10 cousins at our yearly family reunion. Thank you again. If I can help with anything you might be researching that would be in the Chicago, IL area, I would be happy to return the favor. Best Regards, Meg Weil

I believe that Duncan was a son of John Stevenson who, with his brother Hugh, founded the Oban distillery in 1794. I am trying to (dis)prove my connections with this family. Cheers, David.
