|Honourable Basil Cochrane||1826||73||1753||first name on monument||from The Scottish Nation by William Anderson published 1863: The Hon Basil Cochrane the sixth son [of the 8th Earl of Dundonald] was placed on the Madras civil establishment in 1769 and on his return to Britain in May 1807 he purchased the barony of Auchterarder in Perthshire He published the following works: An Improvement in the Mode of Administering the Vapour Bath and in the Apparatus connected with it; with Plans and Estimates of fixed and Portable Baths for Hospitals and Private Houses and some Practical Suggestions on the Efficacy of Vapour in Application to Various Diseases in the Human Frame and as it may be beneficial to the Veterinary Art of Medicine - he married Caroline Gosling|
