Blaise Alexandre1920852005 Blaise graduated from the élite St Cyr militairy academy in 1940; escaped to Batonne; and rallied to de Gaulle in London in June 1940. He served with great distinction with the Free French Forces in the Middle East; North Africa and from Augst 1944 in France and Germany. He was appointed a Companion of the Liberation. After the war; he became sales director of Esso.

He became a journalist; but his acerbic wit and anti-aristocratic tone led to him being horse-whipped in London by Lord Carrington. Accused of perjruy; he fled London for France with his Spanish wife; from whom he assumed the title of Comte de Rethel d'Aragon. He became the Paris correspondant of a number of English magazines; and published a scandalous novel; 'Young Brown or the law of inheritance'; based on his own life.

François Delimal1922221944 Delimal joined the French Resistance in 1942; working principally in eastern France for the Bureau des Opérations Aériennes; including covering the parachute drops of Allied agents; and radio transmissions. In September 1943 he was sent to train in London; and returned under the code name Faraday to coordinate the parachute drops across a large sector of eastern France. He was arrested by the Gestapo in March 1944; and committed suicide whilst being held for interrogation. His remains were buried in this grave after the war.

Lucien Madrassi1881751956 Born in Paris; Lucien Madrassi was the son of the Italian sculptor Luca Madrassi; and of Jewish descent. He became an artist known for his depctions of North Africa; but also for a series of drawings of the Jewish communities of Eastern Europe in the 1920s. In 1930 he became official artist of the French navy. A museum devoted to his work exists in the Puy-de-Dome.

They were in the smoking room when the ship struck the iceberg. Georges jumped from the ship; swam to a lifeboat; and managed to board it and survive by standing upright in the lifeboat which was sinking under the weight of the passengers; seven of whom died. His brother-in-law refused to jump and died in the disaster.

She contracted a morganatic marriage with the Tsar's younger brother Grand Duke Michael; who was murdered in 1918 during the Russian Revolution. As she was twice-divorced and not of royal birth; she was not accepted by her royal relations. She escaped Russia and remarried again after her husband's death. She died in poverty in Paris. George Mikhailovich Romanov1910211931 George was the illegitimate son of Natalia and her lover and future husband; Grand Duke Michael of Russia. He officially recognised George as his son; and George was legitimised by Tsar Nicholas II. He was educated at Harrow School and the Sorbonne; and died in a car accident in France.
